Stateline Community Orchestra

Stateline Community Orchestra is an amateur orchestra that began in the fall of 2022 with the goal of providing performance opportunities for accomplished amateur musicians. As the city of Charlotte and its surrounding communities rapidly grew, performance opportunities for local or incoming musicians proved to be increasingly limited. Thus, SCO was born.

The ensemble rehearses on Tuesday evenings at Pineville United Methodist Church in Pineville, NC. Pineville was selected for easily accessibility for musicians in South Charlotte as well as York and Lancaster Counties in South Carolina. However, our musicians come from broader areas than initially expected.

Throughout its growth, the orchestra has prioritized a fun and supportive music making atmosphere, which has paid off; SCO has grown in each instrumental section.  With some of our sections being at or even slightly over ideal instrumentation, we will begin implementing audition polices in the fall of 2024 that will affect in-coming musicians. While there are still openings in our violin, viola, cello, and string bass sections, we expect to need subs from time to time in other sections.
